General

What is Avec Vitesse?+
Avec Vitesse is an AI-powered preparation platform built specifically for TCF Canada. You can practise listening and reading comprehension, book real-time speaking sessions with an AI examiner, and submit writing for structured feedback. We also plan to offer full mock exams as the product matures. The goal is realistic repetition and clear feedback so you feel ready before you sit the official test.
What is the TCF Canada?+
The TCF Canada (Test de Connaissance du Français pour le Canada) is a French test accepted for Canadian immigration and many programs. It measures listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Results are often reported using NCLC levels, which relate to the CLB scale used in immigration. Avec Vitesse helps you practise those skills; only an authorised centre can award an official score.
Who is this for?+
Our users include permanent-residence candidates, students, and professionals who need proof of French for Canada. Many are working toward a target CLB or NCLC. Whether you are starting from structured comprehension drills or polishing expression under time pressure, the platform is designed to support steady, exam-style preparation alongside your other study.

Trial & Pricing

How does the free trial work?+
You can start a 10-day free trial without a credit card. The trial begins when you activate it and is meant to let you experience real tasks and AI feedback before you pay. When the trial window ends, areas that require an active prep subscription or credits will follow the rules shown in your account. Check the pricing page for the latest plans and exam packages.
What's included in the trial?+
The trial currently includes one Expression Orale session with the AI examiner, two Expression Écrite sets with AI grading, and sample Compréhension Orale and Compréhension Écrite exercises. These limits are designed so you can judge quality and pacing. Full mock exam simulations are not part of the trial and are planned as a separate offering when that feature launches.
What happens when my trial ends?+
After your trial, you can subscribe to a preparation plan for ongoing lesson and content access, or purchase credits where we offer pay-per-use options (for example exam or oral session credits, depending on the product). Some features stay available only with an active subscription; others may remain usable if you hold credits. Your dashboard and pricing page will always reflect what applies to your account.
Can I cancel my subscription?+
Yes. You can manage billing and cancellation from your account where Stripe customer portal or equivalent controls are linked. When you cancel, you generally keep any prepaid credits you already hold, but time-based subscription benefits end at the end of the paid period unless stated otherwise. For billing questions, contact Support with your account email.
Can I buy a single mock exam without subscribing?+
Mock exam access is intended to be credit-based so you can purchase exam packages without necessarily holding an active prep subscription. Packaging and availability can change; see pricing for current options. Note that full mock exam flows may still be rolling out—watch product updates and in-app messaging for when timed, end-to-end simulations are fully available.
What payment methods do you accept?+
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Supported cards and local payment methods appear at checkout. We never store full card numbers on our own servers; Stripe handles payment data according to industry standards.

Content & Practice

How does AI grading work for written expression?+
You write your response in French and submit it when you are ready. Our system evaluates your text against task-specific criteria similar to what examiners look for—task achievement, organisation, range, and accuracy—and returns structured feedback you can use to revise. The score and comments are a learning tool only; they do not replace an official TCF mark from a test centre.
How does the oral expression practice work?+
You book a scheduled window and connect to a conversational AI that plays the role of an examiner, using voice technology (for example ElevenLabs) for natural turn-taking. You speak in real time, follow prompts, and receive guidance suited to TCF-style tasks. Sessions are designed to reduce anxiety through repetition, but you should still practise with teachers or peers when you can.
What's the difference between practice mode and exam mode?+
Practice mode emphasises learning: you can often revisit material, adjust pacing within fair use rules, and lean on feedback between attempts. Exam mode enforces stricter timers and submission rules closer to test day so you experience pressure similar to the real exam. Use practice to build skill and exam mode to rehearse discipline.
Can I retry a question?+
In many practice sets you can review feedback and try again where the product allows. High-stakes or timed exam simulations may lock answers once a section is submitted, similar to the real test. Always check the instructions on the specific set or attempt you are running.
How realistic is the mock exam experience?+
We aim to mirror section structure, timing, and task types as closely as practical in software. Full-length mock exams are still maturing on the platform; in the meantime, combining comprehension sets with expression sessions gives many users a balanced rehearsal. Remember that any score from us is indicative only—official certification always comes from authorised administrators.

Grading & Scoring

How is my writing scored?+
The model applies a rubric inspired by TCF-style expectations and may relate results to broad level bands for motivation. You see strengths, gaps, and next steps rather than a certificate-grade verdict. Treat the output as tutoring feedback: it is strongest when you read it carefully and apply it on your next draft.
What grading rubric is used?+
Tasks are scored against criteria such as addressing the prompt, coherent progression of ideas, vocabulary range, and grammatical control. Detailed breakdowns appear with many exercises so you know what to improve. Rubrics are tuned for study use and are not identical to a specific centre’s internal marking sheet.
How does oral expression scoring work?+
After or during a session, you may receive structured comments on fluency, task coverage, and accuracy based on what was observed in the interaction. Because there is no human proctor in the loop, use the feedback to set personal goals and drill patterns. Pair AI sessions with human correction where possible for the fullest picture.
Can I see detailed feedback on my performance?+
Yes—written tasks return per-criterion notes where enabled, and oral sessions surface actionable tips when the product supports post-session review. Summary dashboards help you see trends over time. If a feature is still in beta, detail might be simpler until we expand analytics.

Technical

What browser do I need?+
Use a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Enable JavaScript. For Expression Orale, allow microphone access when prompted, and disable extensions that block WebSockets if a session fails to connect. Closing unused tabs often improves audio quality.
Do I need a microphone for oral expression?+
Yes. A built-in or USB microphone works; headphones reduce echo and help the examiner’s voice come through clearly. Test your input level before booking a slot so you are not troubleshooting during the timed portion of a session.
Is my data secure?+
We host application data with reputable providers such as Supabase and process payments through Stripe. Voice and text submissions are handled under access controls described in our Privacy Policy. No system is perfectly risk-free—use a strong password unique to this service and sign out on shared computers.
